Our design for the Parque La Gavia invited competition in southwest Madrid rehabilitates an environmentally damaged site by returning it to a healthy condition, drawing on technology, urban recreation, and exploration.

A byproduct of our increasingly industrialized society is the eagerness to escape from mechanized, regimented living. The desire for a return to nature grows stronger with each passing day. Parque La Gavia will provide that connectivity for Madrid. This reinvigorated park will have bicycle lanes, pedestrian nature trails, inspirational gardens and picnic areas. There will also be whimsical interpretations of ecological cycles provided by visual images and play activities along nature routes. Furthermore, our project will address issues of water reclamation and recycling management; providing a continued use all rain water as well as building from recycled materials to hold flower beds and sediment ponds inside the park.
